Toadsworth (called Papy Champi in French) is a supporting character in the Super Mario video game series. He's an elderly Toad and Princess Peach 's steward. He is constantly worried about Princess Peach's safety and sometimes helps Mario and his friends in their adventure.

He was voiced by the late Ichirō Nagai in Japanese and by Scott Burns in English, who also formerly voiced the evil Bowser.

Biography

Super Mario Sunshine

He makes his debut in the game where he accompanies Mario, Princess Peach, and a group of Toads to Isle Delfino for vacation. Before arriving, he is shown day dreaming about the relaxation that he can get at the island. Upon arrival, he and the others notices that the island is filled with Graffiti thanks to Shadow Mario (Bowser Jr. in disguise).

After Mario cleans this, the group are taken to a courthouse where Mario is put on trial as the Piantas thought he was responsible for vandalizing Isle Delfino. He and the princess try to object, but are overruled. After this, he can be seen accompanying the princess, but after she gets abducted, he can be seen worrying in various locations.

New Super Mario Bros.

He appears as the host of the Toad Houses in this game. He uses his magic for conjuring up Roulette Blocks for the heroes.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

He appears in the beginning of the game giving the heroes a suitcase to help them on their journey. He later goes to the Beambeam Kingdom with Princess Peach, and when see gets abducted, gives the heroes a spare dress to help them save her. He is shown to be good friends with Lady Lima.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

He plays a larger role in this game. He is with the heroes Princess Peach accidently goes back in time thanks to Professor E. Gadd's time machine. Later in the game he teams up with his younger self and teaches the heroes new moves and helps entertain Baby Princess Peach.

Decades ago, when he was taking care of Baby Peach was attacked by Baby Bowser, he then assists Baby Mario in defeating him. Once done, the kingdom is attacked by Genocidal aliens known as Shroobs, almost whole Toad race became the victims of this attack, with only him (and at least 2, based on credits) managing to escape after getting rescued by Baby Bowser.

The very next things to come happen only in Partners in Time, whatever happened or how he managed to survive is unknown.

Toadsworth appears as a trophy and two stickers: Toadsworth from Super Mario Sunshite give a boost on indirect attacks power by 10 to any fighter, Toadsworth from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time give a boost on launch power by 5 to any fighter.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Toadsworth appears as a trophy that can be obtained by making eight or more KO in cruel smash.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Toadsworth appears as a novice support spirit that equip the user a Ramblin' Evil Mushroom in the being of an battle. His spirit battle is on the Princess Peach's Castle stage against builder Mario.

Trivia

Multiple models of him can be seen in the opening cutscene for New Super Mario Bros., which are used to create the illusion of Toads running around in a panic.
He is 65 years old according to an email in the original version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Due to his long absence in the games and being somewhat replaced by the Toad General in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, many fans believe that he won't appear in another Mario game outside of remakes and would instead be replaced with the latter.
