Synopsis

He made his debut at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable in May 2015 as a face during the main event after preventing Kevin Owens from attacking an injured Sami Zayn with a chair, before having a stare down with Owens. Later on that year, Samoa Joe turned heel by attacking Finn Balor. Joe proceeded to feud with Bálor for a while. in April 2016 during a house show, Samoa Joe won the NXT Championship by beating Finn Bálor and would hold the title until August 2016 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 2 where he got beat by Shinsuke Nakamura. in November 2016 at the NXT TakeOver: Toronto event, Samoa Joe would reclaim the NXT Championship and also become the first superstar to win the NXT Championship twice. He would hold a title until a live event in the 3rd December 2016 where he lost the title against Shinsuke Nakamura. One month later after the Royal Rumble, Samoa Joe made his supposed main roster debut by attacking Seth Rollins by Triple H's command.
